Different bodies and abilities, sharing the goal of a healthier life

MOVE ACCORDING TO YOUR UNIQUENESS

MOVE TO THRIVE… NOT TO COMPETE…

Different bodies. Different abilities. Different journeys. One shared goal: a healthier, more fulfilling life.

What if movement was not about competing with someone else's body, speed, strength or appearance, but about discovering what helps YOUR body and mind thrive?

We live in a world that often measures fitness by appearance, performance, speed and numbers. But human beings are not identical machines. We differ in age, physical capacity, interests, health, energy, circumstances, culture and access to safe places to move.

Chheila invites us to change the question.

Instead of asking, “Am I as fit as someone else?”
Ask: “What kind of movement helps me become healthier, stronger, more capable and more alive?”

MOVEMENT IS MORE THAN EXERCISE

Movement is not limited to gyms, running tracks or organised sport. It can be walking, swimming, dancing, cycling, gardening, playing with children, doing household tasks, practising yoga, exploring nature or participating in a sport you love.

The World Health Organization confirms that regular physical activity supports cardiovascular and metabolic health, strengthens bones and muscles, benefits brain health, improves wellbeing and reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression.

You do not need to be an athlete to benefit from movement.

You need opportunities to move in ways that are appropriate for you—and a sustainable way to make movement part of your life.

SELF-AWARENESS: YOUR STARTING POINT

Before choosing an exercise routine, discover your own needs. Ask yourself:

  • What forms of movement do I genuinely enjoy?
  • When do I feel most energetic?
  • What helps me feel physically and mentally refreshed?
  • What are my current strengths, limitations and capabilities?
  • What barriers prevent me from moving regularly?
  • How can I make movement safer, more accessible and more enjoyable?
  • What small step can I sustain this week?

Your answers may change with age, experience, work, family responsibilities and health. That is not failure. It is part of understanding yourself.

Self-awareness helps you make informed choices. Consistency helps turn those choices into habits.

WHAT DOES THE EVIDENCE SAY?

The science is clear: physical activity matters, and doing some activity is better than doing none. According to the World Health Organization's recommendations:

For adults aged 18–64:

  • Aim for 150–300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity each week, or 75–150 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity, or an equivalent combination.
  • Include muscle-strengthening activities involving the major muscle groups on at least two days each week.

For children and young people aged 5–17:

  • Aim for an average of at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity each day.
  • Include vigorous activity and muscle- and bone-strengthening activities on at least three days a week.

These are general public-health recommendations, not a competition or a test of personal worth.

Your starting point may be different. Your safe progression may be different. Your preferred activities may be different.

If you are currently inactive, start with manageable amounts and gradually build up. If you have a medical condition, an injury, significant mobility limitations or uncertainty about what is safe, seek guidance from an appropriate health professional.

The objective is not to force every person into the same routine. It is to help people participate safely and consistently, according to their circumstances.

CHHEILA'S MOVEMENT PRINCIPLE

  1. KNOW YOUR BODY — Understand your current capabilities, energy, needs and limitations.
  2. FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU — Choose activities that are enjoyable, practical, accessible and appropriate for your circumstances.
  3. MOVE REGULARLY — Build sustainable habits into everyday life rather than relying only on occasional bursts of motivation.
  4. PROGRESS GRADUALLY — Allow your body time to adapt. Respect recovery and avoid unnecessary comparisons.
  5. SUPPORT YOUR WHOLE WELLBEING — Consider movement alongside sleep, nutrition, relationships and mental wellbeing.
  6. SEEK SUPPORT WHEN NEEDED — Use qualified guidance when health, injury, disability or other circumstances affect your movement choices.

STOP COMPARING. START DISCOVERING.

Someone else's marathon is not your benchmark. Someone else's gym routine is not your prescription. Someone else's body is not your measure of success.

Your progress might be walking a little further, improving your balance, gaining confidence, playing with your children, returning to a favourite activity or simply finding the courage to begin.

Small steps still count. Progress is personal. Health is not a beauty contest.

FROM MOVEMENT TO HUMAN THRIVING

Chheila's vision goes beyond physical fitness. We want people to become more self-aware, confident, capable and engaged in life. Movement can be one part of that journey.

Human Uniqueness → Self-Awareness → Confidence → Happiness → Purpose → Contribution

When people understand themselves better, they can make more informed decisions about how to care for their bodies, use their abilities and participate in their communities.

THE CHHEILA MESSAGE

MOVE NOT TO PROVE YOURSELF TO THE WORLD.

MOVE TO DISCOVER WHAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF BECOMING.

Move for health → Move for strength → Move for freedom → Move for connection → Move for joy

Move in ways that fit your life, and allow your approach to evolve as you do.

MOVE ACCORDING TO YOUR UNIQUENESS.

Because the goal is not to have somebody else's body or live somebody else's life. The goal is to give yourself the best opportunity to thrive.
